The Roads & Bridges Committee will meet (publicly) today at 4:00 PM. Topics on their “agenda” include:

  • Snow Plowing Program Bid Results
  • Road Program 2024 Review
  • Road Program 2025 Discussion

A copy of the “agenda” can be viewed here. However, it is sorely lacking information, namely the, “Snow Plowing Program Bid Results,” as there ARE NO RESULTS disclosed.

Many in our community mistrust the Roads & Bridges Committee, and for good reason given their repeated lack of transparency as the case here. It is disheartening to witness how much the Cecola Administration seemingly has adopted, “The Chicago Way,” of doing business in less than four years.

The Committee did not meet in October.  Perhaps this was intentional to allow a cooling off period after the Chair seemingly lost her composure during the September meeting. The recording of that meeting can be found here.

VBH Roads 2023

This Summer the entire length of Oak Knoll Road was resurfaced due to Trustee Laura Eckstrom’s objection to the appearance of a perfectly sound patching job (which ironically was performed to EXTEND the life of the roadway). It is worth reminding taxpayers Eckstrom happens to LIVE on Oak Knoll Road.

The Village Roads & Bridges Committee meets this afternoon for the first time in five months at 4 PM. The topics on the agenda are:

  • Road Program: 2023 Recap, and
  • Road Program: 2024 Planning

A copy of the agenda can be viewed here.

April 23 RB

The Village Roads & Bridges Committee meets this morning at 11 AM to review bids received for the 2023 Roads Program.  A copy of the agenda can be viewed here.

Those planning to attend today should know the last three R&BC meetings have needlessly lasted an average of over an hour and a half due primarily to the lack of preparation and constant interruptions by the current Committee Chair.

Common Sense

No, that’s not a typo. It’s not a practical joke either.

Roads & Bridges Chair Laura Ekstrom chose the absolute busiest day of the year at Village Hall to have her own special Roads & Bridges meeting consisting of one (1) agenda item today.  And, her special meeting is scheduled at 3 PM, a time when many people vote since they leave their workplaces early.

Turnout for early voting this year has been brisk.  The parking lots have frequently been seen nearly full, and yesterday lines were forming to vote, thus increasing frustrations.

Common sense would dictate alternative dates be chosen by Ekstrom, or short of that, a Zoom meeting be scheduled if there was no alternative.  Clearly, this escaped her.

A copy of her agenda can be viewed here, and if you find yourselves trying to vote this afternoon but unable to park, we know who you have to thank.
