Come join the fun! Riders of all disciplines are welcome! Ride through the beautiful Spring Lake Forest Preserve on a predetermined course.
Jumpers & non-jumpers will both enjoy the challenge of matching the pace time. Ribbons awarded 1st thru 6th place. Plan your team of 2-5 riders (at least 1 adult per team). All riders are required to wear an ASTM/SEI certified helmet. Proof of negative coggins required.

Barrington Area Conservation Trust celebrates it’s 20th anniversary at Tartans for the Trust!
The Celtic spirit will fill the air on August 28 from 3PM until 7PM at the Barrington Hills Park District Riding Center. Bagpipes will sound as we kick off the festivities, Pat McKillan will be performing and there will be games and activities planned for people of all ages.
Kids will enjoy mini versions of the Highland games from the caber toss to miniature golf and tug-o-war. For the Lords and Ladies — Scotch/WhiskeyTasting, Men in Kilts contest, and Haggis Hurling to name a few.
Bring chairs, a blanket and a Ravinia basket (or purchase food from our food truck) and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon in a beautiful setting.

The Village Board of Trustees met last Monday evening, and one person stated the following during public comment:
“My name is (name). I live at (address). I’ve been a resident of Barrington Hills for eighteen years. I’m the Deputy Clerk and I also sit on the Plan Commission.
I’m here tonight to express my opinion that I think it’s inappropriate to have a family member of an employee (Building Department) that’s a spouse of the Village President. I believe the situation doesn’t reflect favorably on the Village of Barrington Hills. I think it exposes us to criticism, conflict of interest, favoritism, nepotism – any number of words that you can come up with.
In my opinion, no Village employee should be related to any of the Trustees. I think that’s best. I think just the situation in this particular situation – because it’s the Village President and his spouse – it just accentuates it a little more as a potential conflict of interest, so, that’s my comment.”

We applaud this resident for coming forward and voicing what others believe, and we agree.

President Joe Biden will visit the northwestern suburb of Crystal Lake next week, a White House official told NBC 5.
Seth Schuster, a regional communications director at the White House, confirmed the visit, but didn’t provide details, including a reason for the trip or where exactly the president would stop.
The president has made two other recent visits in the Midwest.
Biden traveled to Traverse City, Michigan Saturday as part of an effort to highlight the nation’s progress against COVID-19 and promote the infrastructure plan he negotiated with a group of senators. Last week, the president toured a La Crosse, Wisconsin transit facility and delivered remarks on the infrastructure deal.

“The Village of Barrington Hills would like you to be aware of a 5K run, sponsored by the Village and Cuba Township, which is occurring tomorrow, Saturday, July 3rd, at 7:30 AM.
The route includes a portion of Cuba Road west of the Township offices, all of Buckley Road and a portion of Oak Knoll Road east of Buckley. Residents are encouraged to avoid these roadways until 9AM, if possible, as traffic delays are likely to be encountered.

Despite terribly wet conditions over the weekend – pouring rain for dressage and cross-country – the Fox River Valley Pony Club Horse Trials (FRVPC H.T.) of Area IV hosted a successful USEA Interscholastic Eventing League (IEL) Team Challenge on June 24-27, 2021. Seven IEL teams, including three scramble teams, and 27 riders competed for top honors at the beautiful Barrington Hills Riding Center in Barrington Hills, Illinois.
The scramble team of “No Gelding No Glory” won by eight points with a score of 101.4. L’Esprit Equestrian Green took second, followed by Lake Geneva Equestrian taking third, L’Esprit Equestrian Purple taking fourth, and Team V Eventing rounding out the top five teams.
Congratulations to all these courageous IEL riders and their horses for toughing it out through the rain and mud!

Surveillance images taken at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday show a silver or gray older model Chevy or GMC SUV just before a residential burglary in the Fox Trails subdivision of Cary.
Police released surveillance photos of the vehicle used by two suspects who have committed numerous ruse burglaries in Cary, Algonquin and Barrington Hills.
The Cary Police Department responded around 4:50 p.m. Tuesday to the 700 block of Bayberry Drive in the Fox Trails subdivision for a call of a residential burglary.
Cary Deputy Police Chief Scott Naydenoff said a pair of offenders convinced the victim they were at the residence to perform tree trimming services the victim never arranged.
One of the suspects distracted the homeowner by having them walk to the backyard to discuss the tree trimming work.
While the homeowner was distracted by the first suspect, a second suspect entered the residence and stole items from the master bedroom, Naydenoff said.
The suspects are believed to be involved in similar incidents in the surrounding area, including one Tuesday evening in Barrington Hills and another on the east side of Algonquin.

The Barrington Hills Police Department is investigating a ruse burglary that occurred this evening in the area of Helm Road and Roundstone Lane. In this incident, one offender distracted the victim with a landscaping quote while another made entry into the home to remove valuables. The offenders were described as two Hispanic males driving an older gray Chevrolet SUV with stickers on the rear window.
The Department is aware of similar activity by the same suspects and vehicle occurring on the east side of Algonquin, which was posted on Nextdoor; however, if you have additional information about these suspects or the vehicle, please contact the Department at 847-551-3006. Residents should be extremely wary of all unexpected visitors, especially those purporting to be contractors or utility workers, and are strongly encouraged to call 911 in such instances, so that an officer can assist in verifying the visitor’s legitimacy.
