Pres. McLaughlin:
In your letter to residents you refer to Messer, Meroni and Selman as “retiring” trustees when in fact, Meroni and Selman were “ousted” overwhelmingly by VBH voters. Using the word “retiring” infers voluntary departure from office on their part when the opposite is true.
In politics unlike romance, people should never guild the lilly for the sake of dispensing the truth. To do otherwise, casts a false light on actual events. Use of language in this fashion in “your letter to residents” is too remindful of VBH government’s sinful past.
Otherwise, your leadership and management skills during these most trying times reducing the size and cost of VBH government without compromising standards and rule of law is unmatched by any of your contemporaries in local government office and VBH predecessors.
Taxpayers and residents are most indebted to you and your family for the great sacrifice you have made in the name of open, honest, inclusive and efficient village government.
Something many of us close to VBH government are all trying to get use to again after so many years of experiencing the opposite!
