Doing so much more with so much less. What an indictment of former “Save 5 Acres” elected majority who through the will of the VBH electorate have been discarded upon the trash heap of Barrington Hills’ political history; that is save two.
It is nice to see funds budgeted for road and bridge repair actually used for that purpose rather than in part for payment for legal fees resulting from the endless stream of litigation by “Save 5 Acres” majority. How about cash reserves being restored to historicle levels before Save 5 Acres majority depleted them on their endless spending.
While now retired from Pack 187 Cub Scout leadership, I am pleased with the recognition past, current and future cub scouts will receive for their hard work keeping Helm Road clean. I look forward to joining them this spring on clean up day and ask each of you to consider doing the same by meeting at Village Hall on clean-up day.
Former VBH President stated some years ago that he was concerned VBH Board recognition to Cubscout Pack 187 on Helm Road in the form of a road sign would obligate VBH Board to recognize organizations like the Ku Klux Klan if they requested it. VBH President McLaughlin apparently does not share former VBH President’s concerns or unlike former VBH President, President McLaughlin has the testicular fortitude to directly take on the KKK should such a demand be made by them. For those of you who share former VBH President’s concerns, my guess is that recognition to Pack 187 on Helm Road will not trigger a Klan response for the same treatment.
This Board has done a wonderful job of managing VBH resources during these difficult economic times under the steady hand of President McLaughlin who I know with other Unite Barrington Hills Board members have worked countless hours unraveling the inefficiencies, waste and yes, corruption wrought upon us by former Save 5 Acres majority.
Trustee Cecola deserves special recognition for his efficiencies regarding road and bridge repairs. I went to the Road and Bridges meeting yesterday and VBH expects to achieve 3.2 miles of road repair this year underbudget and will do its best to achieve more given low fuel prices.
Who says all elected officials are the same!
Brian, Brian, Colleen, and Marty have given all residents of our Village unbounded and generous dedication. The necessary tasks and problems of running a Village like ours is not glamorous and these selfless servants have accomplished so much even while suffering continuous blocking of every positive step forward. Thank you so much.
