The biggest story in the Newsletter is settlement of the Sears lawsuit through the sole effort of President McLaughlin. VBH was being sued by Sears for 16 Million Dollars. VBH spent 1.5 Million in legal fees over many years, only to have McLaughlin settle the case directly with management Sears without attorneys present.
No threats or bullying, just good representation by a Village President who was able to get to “yes” with no damage to the taxpayer of VBH. Something Abboud and Save 5 Acres BOT including Meroni and Selman were incapable of doing. In fact, they hid this lawsuit from residents. Had Sears been successful, VBH would have been financially “wiped out” possibly in Bankruptcy.
While Pres. McLaughlin is modest about this achievement, we the taxpayers should be grateful for his bold leadership on this issue . Just think what VBH government can achieve with a “new” BOT dedicated to all who live here rather than a single interest group.
Where equestrians and non-equestrians can trust eachother again. Where the riding club can return to its true mission of equestrian activities in VBH rather than political division to achieve a perceived end.
