Barrington Hills preserve named critical bird area – 2010
Area “birders” and conservationists gathered at the Penny Road Pond in Barrington Hills Thursday to hear that the preserve surrounding it and 25 other areas in Illinois have been named “Important Bird Areas” by the Audubon Society.

Lot finally puts an end to Barrington Hills horse trail dispute – 2011
Almost five years after signing an intergovernmental agreement resolving a dispute over the use of Cook County Forest Preserve land, the Barrington Countryside Park District has met its final obligation under the deal. The construction of a parking facility near the Barrington Riding Center and the Fox River Valley Pony Club on Bateman Road finished about two weeks ago, completing the intergovernmental agreement signed in 2006.

Election Board warns Save 5 Acres candidates – 2011
The Illinois State Board of Elections issued a warning to Barrington Hills trustees Joe Messer, Patti Meroni and Karen Selman regarding a complaint about campaign contributions that were improperly reported prior to the April 5 election.

District 220 asking permission to keep sign – 2011
When Countryside Elementary students return to school this fall, parents and bus drivers may not have the benefit of the flashing school speed zone sign on County Line Road that slows traffic to 20 mph and allows for easy entrance and exits to the school parking lot from the busy county road.
