longMeadowBridgeAmong the four hopefuls in the Kane County Board District 24 race, only incumbent Joseph Haimann supports the Longmeadow Parkway project.

Haimann and challenger Jarett Sanchez are running in the Democratic primary for the district, while newcomers Roben Hall and Billita Jacobsen are running in the Republican primary. The district includes Barrington Hills and Carpentersville; all candidates lives in the latter community.

McLaughlinWhen state Sen. Dan Duffy decided he would retire from the Illinois legislature in 2017, it opened a door for suburban Republicans eager to try their mettle in Springfield.

Three candidates are running for the Republican primary in the 26th state Senate District, 253 square miles that reach from Waukegan, Libertyville and Buffalo Grove on the east to Crystal Lake, Algonquin, Carpentersville and Hoffman Estates on the west and southwest.

Of the three, our choice is Barrington Hills Village President Martin McLaughlin.

ELECTION-2016-logoStemming the exodus of taxpayers and jobs from Illinois and lightening the state’s heavy property tax burden is paramount to the three Republican candidates running for the 26th Senate District seat.

Dan McConchie, Casey Urlacher and Martin McLaughlin are running to succeed Republican Sen. Dan Duffy, who is limiting himself to two terms.

The 26th District covers southeastern McHenry and southwestern Lake counties and slivers of Kane and Cook counties.

Tom Wilbeck has announced his candidacy for the McHenry County Board representing District 1 in the March 15, 2016 primary election.

Tom, trained in accounting and having spent his career in management in the financial services industry, offers proven leadership to carefully review McHenry County’s fiscal policies. Tom cites his priorities as maintaining strict controls on McHenry County spending, reducing its debt, creating jobs , and open and responsive representation.

“My community and its future development is critically important to me and I am committed to serving on the County Board and working collaboratively to advance policies that promote a high quality of life for McHenry County and lead the County forward to a prosperous future,” said Tom. “I’d be honored to be the next representative for District 1 and would provide a fresh forward thinking and practical voice.

Tom resides in Barrington Hills, is married to Sharon Wilbeck and is the father of four grown children, all of whom have attended McHenry County schools.  Tom has resided in McHenry County for over 20 years.  Tom has proudly served as an elected Seneca Township Trustee and most recently as a Trustee at McHenry County College.

MartyToday, in the wake of Senator Dan Duffy’s announced retirement, Martin McLaughlin announced his candidacy for the 26th Illinois Senate District. McLaughlin is the Village President of Barrington Hills, a small businessman and a financial expert running to bring his common sense private sector experience to Springfield.

“It has been frustrating to watch Springfield grind to a halt because of an inability to accept needed spending reforms and enact a balanced budget. Meanwhile, here in my village, we’ve been able to work through our differences to cut spending and taxes. It can be done, but you need strong, experienced leadership to make it happen, and that’s why I’ve decided to run for State Senate,” said McLaughlin.

Republican McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski has announced her intent to run for re-election in 2016.

Majewski, of Barrington Hills, said Friday that she will seek a second term in the office in charge of investigating deaths. A licensed physician, Majewski said that the coroner’s office under her first term has improved efficiency and saved taxpayer money while maintaining “timely and comprehensive death investigations that are respectful of the deceased and their families.”
