Special Equestrian Commission meeting agenda changed
July 31, 2014 by Barrington Hills Observer
Sometime after the Village and The Observer originally published the agenda for the special Equestrian Commission meeting taking place tomorrow evening, two new items were added to the agenda:
- [Recommend] Zoning Text Amendment – LeCompte
- [Recommend] Zoning Text Amendments – Elders
A meeting ePacket agenda has now been published including documents to be discussed at the meeting. A copy of those documents can be downloaded here.

And they’re off………………spinning out of the turn…
I’ve stated it before and reiterate it now this whole bike lane or path goat rodeo is a pure calculated distraction from what residents should be paying attention to which is the commercialization of our town with big boarding opertions.
Agreed. We weren’t stupid then and we aren’t stupid now.Nothing has changed except the clear desperation………..
Kilroy, big commercial operations is not the only issue. Allowing 10-20 horses to be boarded at a 5 acre property per the Elder text amendment creates Barrington Hills as a full scale commercial destination for boarding for the entire area. Those peaceful next door neighbors will then become agriculture zoned with lower taxes, increased traffic, and 85 tons of annual horse manure. Good thing you have septic for yourself, spouse and 2,2 kids.
Once again, if you want to put an end to the conniving close the horse trails.
OMA requires 48 hours advance notice of any change in the Agenda. Why is the Equestrian Commission discussing items which “may” still be pending before the ZBA? I recommend the Chair of the Equestrian Commission reconsider this ill advised move given the LeCompte and BHRC petitions are already in legal jeopardy. Why give the Equestrian Commission the opportunity to put the proverbial “nails in the coffin” of these two petitions tonight?

I know this is off the topic of the thread but Cook County has a sign at Horizon saying it’s opening to the public in 2015. Assuming that timeframe holds then I have to question the need for the Barrington Hills Park District riding center that our taxes go to fund. The riding center is open to anyone who wants to use it with little or no fee to anyone who uses it. I just don’t see the long term value anymore since Cook County stated they will be purchasing other properties to connect to Spring Creek FP and it will be open to the public.
Am I missing something?
