U.S. News & World Report released its list of top high schools in the country and in their respective states. The suburban Illinois schools in the top 25 include:
- #6 – Adlai E Stevenson High School
- #8 – Vernon Hills High School
- #10 – New Trier Township High School Winnetka
- #11 – Hinsdale Central High School
- #12 – Libertyville High School
- #13 – William Fremd High School
- #14 – Lake Forest High School
- #15 – Neuqua Valley High School
- #16 – Deerfield High School
- #17 – John Hersey High School
- #19 – Glenbrook North High School
- #20 – Barrington High School
- #21 – Glenbrook South High School
- #22 – Prospect High School
- #23 – Maine South High School
- #24 – Glenbard West High School, and
- #25 – Naperville North High School
Dundee-Crown High School came in at #294. Payton College Preparatory High School in Chicago ranked #1 in Illinois and #5 in the nation.
