How did the meeting go last night? I am assuming you are writing up a summary?
We’ll be pubishing our review of the meeting when the recordings are released. Meantime, the public hearing has been continued (again) to a special August 30th ZBA meeting at Countryside.
thank you ! (was it Fun?)
The meeting last night was horrible. Continued attack by a zealous minority to push through commercial boarding. Of note, one of the lead attackers called the Drury petition to be illegal because it asked for a retroactive clause. Doesn’t that also mean Anderson Text Amendment is illegal because of a 7 year retroactive clause to support one resident in legal proceedings. Anderson II IS illegal!!!!!!!
Special witness brought in from Washington DC in behalf of BH Farm and Oakwood also stated that 1 horse per acre was a good norm. Our law allows two. Hmmmm. Plus, he stated every property is different with variable conditions … and limitations can be “1 horse for every 6 acres.” Sure seems like a proponent of Special Use compared to our one size fits all Anderson II code.
It was also comical when one speaker, without humility reminded us that he is Chairman of Barrington Farms, the large tract he acquired that he intends to petition to become part of Barrington Hills. He claims that he made that purchase expecting to be governed under Anderson II. In response to questioning, he can’t recall if he acquired the property before or after Anderson II. If before, wondering how he was aware of passage before several members of the Board. That is certainly worth investigating.
