Tax levy process eyes December decision: Working within the state timeline for filing its annual tax levy by Dec. 31, the board began its process of considering all the variables of Barrington 220’s fiscal projections for the coming year. View a presentation to the board on the 2015 tax levy estimates and timeline here. The school district covers four counties (Cook, Lake, Kane and McHenry) and collects its yearly taxes in two installments from each. The next step in the tax levy approval process is a public hearing at the board’s 7 p.m. meeting on Nov. 17 at the Early Learning Center.
District enrollment down at 30-day mark: Consistent with the trend of previous years, Barrington 220’s enrollment remains relatively stable at just under 9,000 students district-wide. At the board’s Oct. 20 meeting, the official enrollment report was presented, showing a slight decrease in total students at the Early Learning Center, elementary schools and Barrington High School, with a slight increase in students in grades 6 through 8.
