It’s a multimillion dollar project, and if approved would be the area’s first suburban toll bridge. But some call it a waste of more than 100 million in tax dollars and fees.
The proposed bridge would allow travel over the Fox River a mile south of the McHenry county line.

According to Village of Algonquin President since LMP has been in the Algonquin Comprehensive Plan (“CP”) since the 1990’s Algonquin and all other impacted municipalities are compelled to carry out Algonquin’s CP even though growth and population projections in Kane and McHenry counties have and will continue to decline. This because Illinois politicians through their “spendthrift ways” continue forcing productive residents and business out of the Land of Lincoln for cheaper pastures.
Maybe Kane and McHenry County politicians should focus more on “job creation” within their respective boundaries which would allow many of these productive citizens to work closer to home.
All the LMP will do is shift the traffic bottleneck from Algonquin to Barrington Hills along Algonquin road as there are no plans to widen Algonquin road in Cook County. That is, if drivers pay the “temporary” (Ha!) toll of $3.00 per day. LMP will most likely fail because it is not part of a “regional plan” for moving traffic to its ultimate destination. LMP will only shift the traffic bottleneck from Kane County to Western Cook County in Barrington Hills. Politicians in Kane County will call this progess because while the problem remains, it is no longer in their county.
Unfortunately, Barrington Hills residents were kept in the dark about this massive road project which will dissect Barrington Hills into a North and South Side of town along Algonquin road. This the result of a “secret deal” reached between former President of Barrington Hills and President of Algonquin that if Algonquin did not participate in zoning decisions affecting former Duda Property, Village of Barrington Hills would support LMP.
Rather than disclose this “arrangement” to residents former Barrington Hills President kept quiet for several years until recently when Trustee Gohl blew the whistle (a month or two ago) at a village board of trustees meeting. As a result of these secret dealings Barrington Hills never had a seat at the table to object to the “location” and “impact” LMP would have on its residents and what this massive influx of traffic would do to quality of life and character of Barrington Hills.
To those beyond Barrington Hills through an abysmal U.S. Congressional campaign by former Barrington Hills President, it was conveyed Barrington Hills always supported LMP. In the end, support for LMP helped former Barrington Hills President garner @34% of the popular vote in his congressional district against former incumbant U.S. Congressman Don Manzullo.
Secret deals, suspicious practices and expenditures and lack of ethics and common decency was the modus operandi of Barrington Hills government for many years; that is until recent. May I suggest if LMP is constructed through Barrington Hills that a sign be erected along VBH LMP in recognition of former Barrington Hills Village President and his emasculated board reminding all of us about their “betrayal of the public trust” and that local elections do have consequences and sometimes these consequences can be dire.
I invite BHO readers to offer language on this comment section on what print they would like to see on this LMP sign . . . . May I kick this request off by suggesting an LMP sign which reads:
“In Bob We Trusted”!
“short-cut to Algonquin Commons – This Way”
Contemplating the traffic pattern changes this may have on merchants along rt 62 in Algonquin from rt 25 to Randall Road and beyond. Will they support the change in #’s as they decline? Will this directly impact their businesses as the traffic they depend upon reroutes south and away from their current norms. Will this affect their business bottom line?
I can’t believe that many in Algonquin have thought through how this project is going to change their business.
It is truly just shifting the bottleneck as stated above, and destroying property values and the rural character of Barrington Hills. It will likely help some Randell Rd retail and maybe spur growth of another subdivision or two.
sign reads: “Barringnton Hills donates it’s privacy and property values to the good politicians of Kane County”
The road is stopping at rt 25. I didn’t realize that that was barrington hills. IT IS NOT! Get over it. They are planting trees an not going through ur precious land. That u ride ur bikes in the middle of rush hour and complain about cars being Too close to u. Whatever biArrington hills
Molly the toll road east entrance is off Algonquin Rd in Barrington Hills.
Molly – where did you learn that this tollway will top at rt 25? All of their drawings, PPT’s, statements and presentations indicate that it connects to rt 62 at Autumn Trail. And the latest is that they will build the two ends of this – at Huntley Road and at Autumn Trail first, then build other sections as monies come available. So we will have two disconnected sections of 4 lane which do nothing for who knows how long?
