On October 22, 2012, The Observer published the Barrington Hills 2012 Resident Survey. Readers and subscribers participated, as did many of the more than eight hundred residents who received an invitation to take the survey via email. By the time the survey period closed on Sunday October 28, two hundred twenty-six residents had completed the survey, and eighty-four of them chose to provide their own personal comments and insightful observations based on their years living in the Village.
Today, The Observer is pleased to release the compiled results of the Barrington Hills 2012 Resident Survey, and we would like to express our sincere appreciation to those who took a small bit of time to participate in a very big way.
A copy of the results report can be downloaded here.

Thank you Observer – is there any way we will be able to view the comments left by residents? Also I wish to state that question #6 regarding police and fire protection was answered before a very relevent posting was published. It would have changed my answer dramatically.
Sorry, but comments made by participants were considered confidential. Those who wish to reiterate their comments can do so here in this forum.
Thank you for this survey. I believe that it was well thought out, unbiased and conducted in a professional way. There was a healthy sampling of our village residents by the number of responses and their proportionate location within the counties that make up the village.
I have quickly scanned the outcome and three factors jumped out at me. 1.) Folks love this village and move(d) here for the right reasons. 2.) They are happy with living here with the exception of our governance. 3.) Horse boarding should not become a home occupation.
I truly hope that those who do make decisions heed the findings.
Thanks again for observing!
“I truly hope that those who do make decisions heed the findings.” They haven’t cared in the recent past, so why would they start now?
I agree with your summary of the survey findings Monty. This is a great place to live with the exception of some common issues clearly pointed out in the survey findings regarding local government ethics, policies and taxes.
