Several suburban communities are among 74 small towns throughout Illinois slated to receive a portion of more than $40 million in federal COVID-19 relief grants.
The grants were announced Friday by Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s office. These towns will receive another $40 million next year.
More than $742 million is available to small towns throughout Illinois, Pritzker said. Only about half the eligible towns have applied so far.
Some of the grant recipients are:
- Village of Barrington Hills: $284,803.12
- South Barrington: $339,588.64
The grant applications are available through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
Eligible uses for the money include COVID-19 response, replacing lost revenue, economic stabilization for residents and businesses, and addressing inequality in the impact of the pandemic.
The full list of recipients is available on the DCEO website, illinois.gov/dceo.

Thank goodness BH got grant money in from the Feds. Now since Stef Cecola hired her friend to work alongside of her in the building department we might be able to afford these unnecessary expense. Seriously WTH two people doing the work of a single part time position. Who’s watching the store?
Why is Steph Cecola at the Village 5 days a week? She’s violating Illinois labor laws. Why isn’t the administrator and village attorney sending her home after her 19.5 hours? She’s a part time worker not a key employee of the village. I didn’t realize we elected her to”Run the Village”. She already ran off our treasurer.
Who’s next. The Clerk? Trustees? Doesn’t she get it? Doesn’t President Cecola get it? Her continued employment is a direct conflict unethical and an embarrassment for our village. Wake up BOT. For God’s sake class it up people. McLaughlin never would have allowed for this crap.
