While teachers went on strike earlier this month in Lake Forest and Chicago, Barrington District 220 teachers and district leaders have been quietly negotiating a new deal.
The district’s existing teachers contract expired in August, forcing local teachers to work under the terms of the prior agreement ever since.

Our Board of Education is a joke. They abdicate all their crucial decisions to Tom Leonard who ultimately wants the teachers to like him. Get ready for another bump in pay for teachers and higher levies to residents so Brian Battle can continue to boast a AAA bond rating for the district. Plus after last negotiation of Leonard’s contract he stated he’d retire at the end of the term. BS. This BoE will pay him anything to stay on.
