The following announcement was recently released by the Barrington Hills Park District:
“Dr. Kati Lukas, of Lukas Equine Veterinary Services, will conduct a gastroscopy clinic on Wednesday, July 13 starting at 9 a.m. at the BHPD Riding Center.
Appointments are available to bring in your horse and receive a gastric screening. The cost is $50 per horse.
If you just want to observe the procedure and learn more about equine gastric ulcers, there is no charge.
Call Dr. Lukas at 708-921-5284 to schedule an appointment or for more information.
You will also be able to purchase the treatment, Gastrogard, at this clinic.
To learn more about the clinic and gastroscopy, view or download this PDF.”
Is it the role of taxpayer funded Park Districts to provide facilities for a commercial enterprise, however well intended? And, to use taxpayer funds to advertise the services and contact information for a service provider? Not sure this is a permitted use in the Zoning Code (service and/or sale of medications). Could a tennis pro advertise his/her services for tennis lessons at Park courts, and sell racquets and stringing services? When and where will the line be drawn in the once quiet Village of Barrington Hills?
There is no record of this event documented in any of the park district board’s agendas for 2016, so who approved it, when and how? Agreed there’s some inconsistency here.
