Angry landowners in Barrington Hills heckled village trustees Monday night who voted to approve a controversial measure regulating horse boarding in the affluent equestrian community.
Dozens of residents — the majority seemingly against the measure — packed a meeting room at Countryside School to hear the vote, which opponents said will open the door to large-scale commercial horse-boarding enterprises and mar the pastoral feel of the village.

While extremely disappointing, the result was pre-ordained. As I (and others) pointed out, the letters written by Gohl and Selman, calling for the special meeting, blatantly stated that the purpose of the meeting was to approve the Anderson Amendment. Whether or not the retroactivity is legal, and will withstand a legal challenge, is the next question. The April election is our next opportunity to rid ourselves of the cabal.
I think everyone knew Abboud’s five loyalists on the board would pass the Anderson amendment last night, but it was still so surreal to watch these five people lie for nearly two hours as though what they were saying was the truth. My hope is they will be required to repeat their stories under oath from the witness stand.
The Abboud 5 are now perias in the village. I wonder how the were compensated for the loss of their reputations and what price could compensate for the sale of their integrity. This destructive act will not be forgotten by the people of Barrington Hills.
But on the brighter side, they may have avoided a court date and further public humiliation. But then again, maybe not!
When you think this situation through you can come up with only one motive for this situation. The Abboud 5 did not want to appear in a court setting, under oath and testify to the TRUTH with all the ramifications that it would bring.
It was much easier to destroy the Village’s quality of life than have to retain competent council and perhaps have criminal charges lodged against them.
It is all about self preservation!
Truth Seeker – Do you think this will NOT end up in court at some point ?
And they will have to be on the witness stand?
Why refer to the Abboud 5 and stop there? ZBA chair Judy Freeman is a smiling shill for the special interests. And Ponytails, the gang of 5 did NOT avoid their day in court. They only solidified the likelihood of being summoned to the courts to testify under oath. There will be a day of reckoning in the Village. Prosecution for crimes and corruption will be a wonderful elixir for those harmed by their abuses of office.
