East Dundee Village President Lael Miller has filed a formal complaint with the Illinois Commerce Commission against ComEd, alleging the utility caved to political pressure and tried to block an auto auction business from coming to the village.
“This is not the type of behavior that we, as the public, expect from Commonwealth Edison,” Miller said. “It’s harmful to our efforts in attracting business and it’s certainly worth the $7.17 in postage for me to file the paperwork to fight this.”

It sounds like another one of Abboud’s back door deals has backfired again, potentially putting BH taxpayers on the hook to pay for his misdeeds.
When will the aftershocks end?
Sounds to me that Mr. Abboud was trying to take care of the community and protect the water source instead of just looking at the potential revenue as Mr. Miller seems to be doing ! Wake up,once the water is contaminated it will be to late , does anyone really think contaminated water is worth the money ?? Liz
Sounds like a lot of people don’t realize the property in question is a reclaimed gravel mine.
In the DECADES this mine was operational, leaking trucks, equipment and fuel storage among other things were present. When the mine cavity was filled, there was no cleanup, just fill, so all the potential contaminants people are concerned about are already there deep below the surface of the ground.
So glad Kilroy was here! Yes sir – as I have stated in another article here in the Observer – let’s get the water tested now. The only reason not to – the water is already contaminated……….bingo.
Again that would have been something that was present before Abboud and not BH responsibility. East Dundee should have been responsible to clean the site up. Which you are admitting clearly their past history shows they are not good stewards of the land and the people who live on it or good neighbors to Barrington Hills residents. So why should we expect them to properly monitor the IAA site now. I think their is more to the IAA deal with East Dundee then meets the eye. I think an independent investigation of why so many rich people like Nick and Nora seem to be are so interested in this going through. Anyone with common sense would know that fuel and oil spillage will contaminate the aquifers of BH. I am glad Com Ed is on Barrington Hill side. It is a President’s responsibility to research and work for the residents. I don’t know about anyone else but pretty soon these people will be saying Bob Abboud personally is causing the end of the earth. Get real you are quite frankly a little crazy I applaud people who put their necks out for the public.
Just a thought but what if East Dundee does not/did not – know about the contamination? You didn’t. And before you point fingers about who is the better steward of the land I would do my homework first before shooting off one’s big mouth. Your litigious comment about us clearly smacks of libel, G Martin. Time to muzzle your dog. ‘Anyone with common sense would know that fuel and oil spillage will contaminate the aquifers – you are a joke – no one is disputing that. However you cannot accuse someone of something that has not happened yet. And by the way – how is it you know ‘fuel and oil spillage’ will contaminate the aquifers but you cannot get it through your head that horseshit does the same thing? How about testing what exists now – for oil and fuel as well as fecal coliform? Hmmm? Cease the name calling and personal attacks and now let’s add the insane ramblings also….you are the laughing stock of this blog….
