A Barrington concert series born out of the COVID-19 pandemic has become popular, the mayor says, and is returning this year to the Metra commuter train station parking lot – likely as an annual event.
The Metra Lot Concert series launched last year as an entertainment option amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It’s great to get people outside in Barrington using this amenity, our huge parking lot which has such great acoustics,” said Village President Karen Darch.
She called the commuter train station parking lot “a natural stage.
Approximately 120 people registered to see the June 10 series-kickoff concert, with music by band Hi-Infidelity.
Libby Rieke, of Barrington, arrived at the parking lot concert in a 1972 tangerine-colored Volkswagen van. Popping through the van’s sunroof was Jaquelyn Rieke, formerly of Barrington and a Barrington High School graduate.
“It’s the perfect concert bus to bring to the Metra concert in Barrington,” Libby Rieke said. “It’s the perfect bus!”
