Four candidates are running for seats on our Village Board of Trustees under a familiar campaign banner, “One Barrington Hills.”
Second term Trustee Brian Cecola is running for Village President. Cecola is hoping to succeed the current Village President, Martin McLaughlin, who’s eight years in village office comes to a close in April.
Former Village Communications Committee member, Laura Ekstrom, along with David Riff and Tom Strauss have joined Brian on the campaign trail vying for Village Trustee seats.

Early voting begins March 25th, and the election is Tuesday, April 6th.
I’m not certain who put this group of people together but I must say it is pretty representative of Barrington Hills residents.
Equestrians, business owners, riding club and county club members. Philanthropists and civic volunteers. Looks like they’re being supported by the outgoing administration. If you voted for McLaughlin and Koniceck looks like this is our team.
Good luck to this group and I will be telling all of my neighbors to support them. Hopefully those running against these volunteers will keep it above board and clean. Hope springs eternal.
Cecola ran in his prior two campaigns with the support of McLaughlin and Konicek Hannigan. It’s great to see him step up to run as Village President and I’d bet he’s got their endorsement, which would be enough for me, but I also now know that after 6 years as a trustee Brian is completely capable of handling the President’s role. He’s done an outstanding job on the roads and public safety over the last 6 years. He is responsible for bringing the road program into compliance where we previously had roads in failure status. He also was instrumental in the upgrade of our 911 system. He even assisted to get Cook County to repair the roads in the village that they’re responsible for, like Brinker. If Brian supports Strauss, Riff and Ekstrom, they must be good candidates.
