The December 9, 2020, Park Board Meeting will be held via video conferencing at 7:00 PM. A phone number and access code is available to the public for anyone who would like to observe or comment during the meeting.
The agenda (seen here) includes, “Approval of the November 2020 Park Board Meeting Minutes,” but they are not provided to residents to review. Also on the agenda is, “Tax Levy Ordinance 12-09-2020-01,” but this too seems unavailable for public inspection. This has been standard practice for as long as anyone can remember. The District seems to believe the less people know the better it is for them.

Word has it the village idiot is at it again circulating village trustee petitions and telling everyone the candidates goal is to muck up the horse boarding text amendment litigation if elected. It will be obvious to all the minute they file and announce.
Did any of you hear this meeting? Raise taxes as much as legally possible? Build another riding arena on the taxpayer’s dime? Don’t we subsidize the interests of the riding club enough through our park district taxes? What a joke. And now the jokester running that show has announced he wants to run the village? Watch out BH. We’re in for a rough ride!
If you notice your tax bill, the amount you pay in taxes for the countryside park district is less than $100 a year! Don’t cry too hard!
$100 for some else’s hobby is $100 too much.
Why did you move to Barrington Hills, most people moved here to be among horses and scenic views!
My neighbors have horses. They pay for said horses. I do not have a horse. And while horse people can horse all they want, why should I pay for it? They are relatively wealthy. It’s not like this tax goes to feed starving children. I’m not seeing your logic, Nancy.
Well let me tell you, if you don’t have enough money to pay one of the lowest park district taxs in the area, don’t move to Barrington Hills, you could probably donate a lot more money to good causes then.
Too late. I already live here. Your argument is sophomoric. You are saying it isn’t much, so we should all pitch in to your pet causes. A few bucks here, a few bucks there…it all adds up.
The McLaughlin Board of Trustees has worked hard for 8 years, Brian Cecola for 6 of those, to LOWER your taxes and levy every year. Cecola has practiced responsible governance, managing the two largest village departments, Roads and Public Safety, maintaining our roads at the highest level ever for ALL residents of BH, finding innovative ways to keep them in top condition for the longest period of time, and for the BH Police Dept to operate efficiently while not sacrificing service and safety to residents. What will the President of Barrington Countryside Park District do with that track record if he gets in at the helm of VBH? Raise our taxes as much as he can? Expand on the special interest programs for one small segment of our community? Yes, $100 for someone else’s hobby is too much, and the prospect of this form of governance over the budget of the entire village is frightening.
The BHPB is nothing but a hole in most resident’s pockets. Some are afraid to even go there since if you’re not an equestrian you’re not considered welcome. I concur since the one time we went there we were approached and asked who we were and why we were there just for looking around the grounds. We were treated as unwelcome outsiders so we left never to return.
The tennis courts should be handled by CUSD 220 and the BHPD should go to FPDCC with privileges granted for some period of time to VBH residents. It’s high time these pretentious equestrians learned their place.
