Every year around this time, we reach out to Northwest suburban mayors and village presidents and ask them to tell us something their community accomplished in the year gone by and something they hope to accomplish in the year ahead. Earlier, we shared their answers to the first question. Here’s what the town leaders hope to see in 2020.
Martin McLaughlin, Barrington Hills
In 2020, the Village of Barrington Hills is beta testing a “virtual gated community” security camera program, which will be in an evaluation phase.

NO, NO, NO to security cameras nor to the concept of a virtual gated community. We didn’t move to Barrington Hills 39 years ago so we could be part of this concept!
YES YES YES
So that you are aware more than 8 cameras public and many private cameras already have been part of the community for over 20 years.
Surprised? The police department is evaluating this program to better protect our homes and families. How dare they!!!!!
Once again you and your breathless zealots (AKA the McLaughlin haters) are on the wrong side of an issue-AGAIN.
Not shocking. You were against 911 upgrades for public safety. Working great! You were against bonding over our police pension… Wrong again…. now the state will control our police pension. We are saved! NOT. Thank your neighbor Abboud for his and Fritz’s pension screw up. Costing us all millions.
Give up and get on board the Marty Party. The guys actually delivered on every promise….. in the face of so much petty ugliness from you and your friends. Hey I have an idea…… you and your friends (the McLaughlin haters) should vote him into state office then you can finally get him out of Barringtin Hills. Otherwise he will probably run again for Mayor and keeping driving you nuts ….yep that is the only way you will get rid of him.
