“Journeys in Journalism: Past, Present and Future” will be the featured 2019 Alumni Legends program that’ll kick off Barrington High School’s homecoming weekend.
Set for 7 PM tonight, at the high school’s auditorium, Barrington High alum Chris Erskine, currently a columnist and editor for the Los Angeles Times, will moderate the panel discussion. Barrington High alumni who work in journalism will be on the panel, including WGN-Channel 9 sportscaster Lauren Magiera, ESPN/ABC Sports coordinating production editor Andy Armas, Chicago-based Fox News correspondent Michael Tobin and Scott Stahmer, a senior production editor at The Villages Daily Sun, which community in Florida.
On Saturday, the following events are scheduled:
- 7 AM: The annual “Andy Anderson Pancake Breakfast” in the BHS Cafeteria until noon. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children.
- 10:15 AM: The BHS Homecoming Parade leaves from the METRA station and marches to BHS. Alumni floats line up behind the high school student floats, with the exception of the 50th Reunion float, which will help lead the parade. Call BHS at 847-381-1400 to register your class float. The theme this year is “Candyland Homecoming—It’s Going to Be Sweet!”
*In honor of the 50th anniversary Lines Elementary alumni will be walking in the homecoming parade. Meet at the Metra train commuter parking lot at 10 AM - 11 AM: The BHS School Tour. Meet inside the main entrance to the school and receive a free alumni t-shirt!
- 11 AM-1 PM: Come check out the new District Administrative Center, located at 515 West Main Street, right across from Barrington High School. The Open House will begin following the Homecoming Parade.
- 11 AM-4 PM: The All Alumni Tailgate Party in the Chessie’s parking lot at 200 Applebee Street. There will be good food, drink and entertainment.
- 1 PM: The Broncos take on Conant High School at Barrington Community Stadium.
On Sunday, all Barrington High alums are invited to attend the annual BHSAA brunch at Chessie’s Restaurant. Reservations begin at 10 AM. Contact Chessie’s at 847.382.5020 for reservations.
