Following a public hearing at its Oct. 1 meeting, the Board approved an eLearning verification form. This is required in order to utilize eLearning as part of the district’s Distance Learning Plan. At its next meeting on Oct. 15, the Board will consider approving a resolution to utilize eLearning as part of its Distance Learning Plan for emergency days for the 2019-2020 school year.
The Distance Learning Plan is a district-wide plan to have students complete the school day from home, on an inclement weather day. This could eliminate the need to make up days at the end of the school year. The Barrington 220 administration has been working in collaboration with the Barrington Education Association (BEA) and Barrington School District Employee Organization (BSEO) on a Distance Learning Plan, which encompasses traditional lesson assignments at home that do not require an electronic device, as well as eLearning (lesson assignments at home that require an electronic device, such as an iPad). Barrington 220 is working with all school PTOs to develop a document for parents that would answer frequently asked questions about the Distance Learning Plan.
