At its Sept. 17 meeting, the Board heard a presentation about a district-wide plan to have students complete the school day from home, on an inclement weather day, or during other emergencies. This could eliminate the need to make up days at the end of the school year.
The Barrington 220 administration has been working in collaboration with the Barrington Education Association (BEA) and Barrington School District Employee Organization (BSEO) on a Distance Learning Plan, which encompasses traditional lesson assignments at home that do not require an electronic device, as well as eLearning (lesson assignments at home that require an electronic device, such as an iPad).
The Board will hold a public hearing about the eLearning portion of the Distance Learning Plan, with consideration to approve it, at its next scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 1. The use of eLearning, specifically for inclement weather days, is anticipated to go before the Board for approval at its Oct. 15 regularly scheduled meeting.
Barrington 220 is working with all school PTOs to develop a document for parents that would answer frequently asked questions about the Distance Learning Plan.
