The following are some of the major activities scheduled for 4th of July 2019:
Family Fitness Run – 7:00 AM
The Advocate Good Shepherd Family Fitness Run begins with the playing of the National Anthem at 7:00 AM immediately followed by a kid’s run in downtown Barrington. At 7:15 a 10K run and a 5K run/walk will begin from the same location.
A portion of the 10K run takes riders through Otis and Hawley Woods Roads (see course map here), and any minor delays will be over by 8:30. As a matter of fact, some residents have cheered runners on from their front yards in past years.
Barrington Fourth Parade – 10:00 AM
“The Barrington 4th of July Parade, presented by Idealease, steps off at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 4th, 2019 from Barrington High School to the Metra Commuter Lot.
This year’s theme is the 100th Anniversary of the American Legion. Join us as we celebrate ‘Americanism’ and honor the brave men and women who have served our great nation.
In the words of Theodore Roosevelt, ‘Americanism is a question of spirit, conviction, and purpose, not of creed or birthplace.’”
Chris Walz Bluegrass Players – 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Stop by the Barrington’s White House after the parade for an historic tour and to listen to America’s musical story by acclaimed bluegrass multi-instrumentalist Chris Walz and players.
Bring the entire family to this free event and enjoy America’s bluegrass, masterfully played on guitar, mandolin, banjo and bass by renowned musicians Chris Walz, John Huber, Colby Maddox and Marc Edelstein.
Barrington Forth fireworks display – Dusk
This year the Barrington 4th of July fireworks are sponsored by the Barrington Lions Club and Barrington Bank & Trust. They will begin at dusk at Barrington High School.
