The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), is the largest public awareness vehicle and grass roots fundraiser for Special Olympics. Known honorably as Guardians of the Flame, law enforcement members and Special Olympics athletes carry the “Flame of Hope” into the Opening Ceremony of local competitions, and into Special Olympics State, Provincial, National, Regional and World Games.
Annually, almost 110,000 dedicated and compassionate law enforcement members carry the “Flame of Hope,” symbolizing courage and celebration of diversity uniting communities around the globe.
This Sunday, June 2nd, the men and women of the Village of Barrington Hills Police Department will be participating again – rain or shine – in this year’s LETR benefiting Special Olympics Illinois beginning at 8:00 AM. “You, too, can participate in this largest fundraising campaign for Special Olympics by making a donation to this cause and/or line the street to cheer on VBHPD. For donations, contact Sergeant Ron Riedel at 847-551-3006 or by email rriedel@vbhpd.net”
Note: Due to the construction on Route 62, the run will begin at Route 62 and County Line Road in Algonquin, then north to the Town of McHenry.
