“Your Barrington Hills” Trojan Horsemen, Louis Iacovelli, Paula Jacobsen and Robert Zubak, candidates in tomorrow’s election, have all been mum on the topic of commercial horse boarding and equestrian business activity in the village. There has been no real mention of the topic, save for a vague reference to equestrian heritage.
But all three of these individuals communicated their views, on the official Village record, to the Zoning Board of Appeals last summer. Iacovelli, Jacobsen and Zubak all opposed the Drury amendment and expressed their strong support for the flawed and biased Anderson II Ordinance, which was repealed by the Village Board of Trustees in December 2016. Iacovelli & Jacobsen both signed the J.R. Davis petition form. Zubak went a bit further, submitting a personal letter via email.
Zubak’s feelings were summed up, in his own words, ” …my wife and I would rather live next to a boarding/training facility that [sic] live with the freight trains that run through the back of our property at all hours of the day and night.”
Ah, Mr. Zubak, that is your choice. But the rest of us have our own choices to make as far as protecting the peace and quiet of our homes and properties.
Here are copies of their submissions.
Thanks again, Observer, for exposing the positions of these “independent” candiates, who obviously favored the “Barnington Hills” Amendment (7500sq barn on 5 acres). They are clearly and inescapely Riding Club members and favor prior destructive actions in our Village.
I’m convinced that the Observer’s diligence in recording and reminding readers of the history involved in the prior bad acts will enlighten the residents of the negative and detrimental effects that the fringes favoring unbridled commercial barns have on the peace, tranquility, and individual property rights of residents who chose this Vilage for peace and quiet.
This fringe has caused so much damage and turmoil. The residents have voted in the last two elections to reject the fringe. We have a responsible Board now, which has correcte the bad zoning amendment, saved substantial costs to the residents.
I must re-state. “I like horses”. I joined the Riding Club when we moved here 12 years ago, but was quickly shunned when I spoke out against some of the Clubs policy.
Keep up the good work.

If you still are not convinced that YBH candidates, Iacovelli, Jacobsen and Zubak are SOS candidates re-branded perhaps the following information may convince you otherwise. The uninvited Silent One is being pulled along by YBH for the free ride. .
The State Board of Elections A-1 Flings show a campaign contribution from SOS to YBH in the amount of $10,000.00. This donation from SOS to YBH was posted by the State Board of Elections yesterday, April 3, 2017.
SOS was all about saving Anderson II allowing large scale commercial horse boarding anywhere of any numerical and structural size in 5-acre zoned areas in VBH with almost no local government oversight.
In otherwords, by legislative fiat rather than vote of VBH residents via referendum, Anderson II with the approval of 5 individuals on the VBH BOT converted 57 year old R-1 zoning in VBH from residential estate living to mixed residential and commercial use.
This is what is at stake today. . . .
