Kane County approved contracts with a company to begin removing trees along the Longmeadow Parkway Bridge Corridor, but the Kane County Department of Transportation has hit a potential roadblock to remove trees on Autumn Trail in Barrington Hills.
Barrington Hills residents, along with village trustees, argue Autumn Trail is a private, not public road, so the county does not have authority to remove the trees, officials said.

Views on Longmeadow Parkway should be a campaign topic in the Village election. Thanks to Marty and this current BOT for opposing the LPH. President McLaughlin inherited another mess of the prior administration who supported this expansion that will cause significant harm to the Village.
Glad to learn from BO that the Village has taken steps to voice our opposition. Hooray to Marty!!
Would appreciate it if BO could keep us all informed on this matter and give counsel how we can work with local residents on Autumn Trail to support their opposition efforts.
Perhaps someone should ask the “Silent One” what steps she took as former VBH Trustee to stop the LMP or what action the “Silent One” took to make residents aware of the coming construction of this super-highway dividing VBH into North and South sides.
Was the “Silent One” aware of the rumored deal between former “Save 5 Acres” VBH Presdient and the Mayor of Algonquin regarding LMP and the Duda Property? If so, did the Silent One notify VBH residents of this action? Like former VBH President and her “Save 5 Acres” political teammate, did the Silent One vote “yes” in support of VBH Board RESOLUTION in favor of LMP?
The Silent One was quiet about LMP when VBH residents needed a voice and when speaking by VBH government leadership would have made a difference. The VBH electorate needs to ask the Silent One to explain her record and actions as former VBH Trustee when it came to construction of the LMP through VBH . . . . .
I expect what you will hear from the Silent One is THE SOUND OF SILENCE!
I haven’t lived here that long, so can someone tell me who the Silent One is? I want to make sure that I don’t vote for her. When was she on the board?
“The Sound of Silence” – theme song for the candidate?
Look back on records as to previous VBH BOT members and their resumes/activities and the answer to who is “the silent one” will become obvious. Roads and Bridges was her committee.
PM.
Can we get the candidates for upcoming BOT seats to state for the record their support or opposition to the Longmeadow Parkway project?
This is a synopsis of the opposition’s viewpoint of the project and why we believe it needs to be stopped –

This brief powerpoint presentation lays out a number of strong reasons to oppose, but leaves out the incontrovertible fact that the completion of this Parkway will have significant impact on rt 62 in Barrington HiIls. If they build Longmeadow – eventually we will have much worse traffic on rt 62 and subsequently a push to widen it to four lanes throughout the VBH.
It behooves all of us citizens of the village to be aware of the impact of both the short and long term effects of this project and whether our local government is going to support or oppose this.
VBH residents can support their fellow residents on Autumn Trail being faced with very significant impacts from the Longmeadow Parkway by:
1.Encouraging the Board to pass a Resolution confirming that Autumn Trail is a Private Road which will preclude the Kane County Department of Transportation (KDOT) simply seizing the road as they are currently planning to do.
2. Adequately informing the public that VBH is opposed to the Longmeadow Parkway (since 2015!)
3. Complaining to your State Representatives that KDOT and IDOT are proceeding with the project in violation of State Law (605 ILCS 5/5-408) which prohibits construction of roads within the corporate limits of a municipality without the approval of the municipality.
No one has been able to demonstrate any significant benefit of the Parkway to Barrington Hills. Its adverse impacts, including increased traffic and environmental degradation, affect us all.
