The Barrington Hills Park District Board of Commissioners will be holding a special meeting this evening at 7:00 PM at the district Riding Center located at 361 Bateman Road. A copy of their agenda can be viewed here.
One of the items for discussion and possible vote tonight is a “Use Ordinance” designating fees to be charged for residents and non-residents who use the equestrian facilities at the Riding Center. So far, the district has not disclosed what fee structure it is considering, nor how the program will be administered.
“Use Fees”? this has been forced on the Park Board- most of them do not want to do it, but are forced to by the angry residents- more of us should go to these meetings and demand action!
“Trainer Authorization” what a joke! Trainers run their businesses there for 75 to 100 dollars a YEAR! Who would not like to have a place to run their business where the taxpayers paid all your expenses ! And maintained it for you?
And of course the fact that the President of the PB has a daughter who will or has been “Authorized” by him to run her business there? Another joke, not very funny to residents trying to ride there and these trainers have large group lessons where they are paid by the multiple students- and make a very hefty sum- AND NOT ONE CENT GOES BACK TO THE PB? Is there any other PD in the world that represents it’s residents interests less?
We need to vote and change this nonsense and graft .
I previously suggested selling the Riding Center to the Cook County Forest Preserve. Another option would be to run it like Palatine Park District runs theirs with instructors employed by the Park District. The Riding Center could and should be self-sustaining.
Agree completely with both comments!
