The Zoning Board of Appeals will hold their regular monthly meeting this evening at 7:30 PM. The meeting will include two public hearings regarding a proposed addition to the rectory at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church as well as a proposed outdoor basketball court and new signage at Countryside Elementary School.
A copy of the agenda can be viewed here. The 135-page information packet for tonight’s meeting can be downloaded here.
Why is the FAR (floor area ratio) not being calculated for the St. Mark’s addition? Why was information about the FAR not listed on our village website until recently?
Believe it or not – attorney Dickson finally admitted the existence of the FAR and documented that the St Marks property was already in excess of the allowable amount. She indicated the church property was over the allowable amount when it was grandfathered in….AND it was allowable for the zoning board to use their discretion to allow the church to continue adding to that number. And that’s what the zoning board did.
A slippery slope residents – the FAR can be exceeded at the discretion of our board in cases of special use. Most communities that allow this put an end to adding to the FAR.
What’s the difference between the last administration and this one? Absolutely nothing
Its a church…….give them a break! What would Jesus do?
Dear Fr. Tom aka David Steiper,
Jesus would insist that the church follow the laws of the land and the codes of the village. Not abuse them. Every other resident. No one is above law.
Then I would ask the members of St. Marks to reread the ten commandments…….and begin to practice them.
Love you.
Pauline ak/a Just me:
I am not Fr. Tom. As you are well aware, because my family are members of St. Mark’s I recused myself from this matter. This includes having any public comment regarding the recent special use application by St. Mark’s before VBH ZBA. Truth be told, I did not even read it.
The difference between this administration and the last is “ethics”. Imagine if all those on the ZBA and BOT who participated in drafting LeCompte/Anderson II horse boarding amendment especailly those at the board level had recused themselves as they should have prior to casting a vote, VBH would not have had a quorum and Anderson II would have withered on the vine. All of us would now be saved from this horrible law which jeopardizies 5-acre estate living.
The prior administration some of whom still sit on the Board were and are “outlaws”. Not the case with current VBH President and new board members who are left cleaning up the mess of the last adminstration. No “pay to play” and “cover-ups” with this Board as far as I can tell.
Further in respect for “titles’, I would never put a title before my name which I did not earn. Therefore if I were going to use a moniker, which I do not, I would never use “Fr” before it as I am not a priest and would never pretend to be.
I will of course pass on your suggestion to St. Mark’s congregation that we re-read the Decalogue or Ten Commandments and try harder to practice them. Following God’s laws is always a good thing for all of us and I trust you and the readers of this blog will try and do the same.
Better yet Pauline, I hope to see you in Church at St. Mark’s this Sunday kneeling beside me and we together can recite the Decalogue together. Emphasis on the second law, “love thy neighbor as thyself” and regarding the first two commandments hang all of the laws and the prophets.
May God be with you and your family and may only good blessings be bestowed upon you and yours.
Your friend in Christ . .
David Stieper
Gee David – you seem to be attributing responses to me that clearly do not have my name attached. Why is that? Your obvious obsession with me is silly and I refuse to engage with you regarding the lies and deception evident in your long winded reply. Bloviating seems to be your forte’.
To clarify – we are Catholic in this family and follow the teaching of the Bible so please do not wait for me to – kneel beside you this Sunday, to paraphrase. In the interim please stop harassing me publicly and privately. Picking on senior citizens and war widows is bad form – even for you.
BTW – the photo of you taken at the zoning meeting on Monday – whereas you are giving my son the middle finger – priceless.
Yes another stellar member of St Marks Church practicing the teachings of Christ.
I’ll pray for you and yours.
Pauline, I am sure your son is a lovely young man, but I wouldn’t know him if I saw him. To be kind, you have a disjointed view of reality but I am hopeful some day you will join the rest of society or at least most of us in seeing matters as they are.
Thank you for your prayers and look forward to meeting your son someday should the occasion.
