The Barrington Hills Park District Board of Commissioners will be holding their regular monthly meeting at 7:00 PM this evening at the district Riding Center located at 361 Bateman Rd. One of the topics to be discussed by the board will be “EHV Virus and the Riding Center.”
A copy of their agenda can be viewed here.
Hope the Riding Center closes down until the virus has settled down. A bit late if they have not shut down already.
I’m an equestrian but am frustrated with all the non-residents and trainers who take over the Riding Center – our taxpayer dollars – so we are subsidizing them. Many times these yahoos are not even wearing helmets. This is a major liability issue. Just one of many issues with the Riding Center.
Thank you for all the updates, Barrington Hills Observer! You are fantastic.
Why does the invasion from outsiders continue in our space? Why am I being asked to subsidise out of town people that use a facility that I pay for? This will only stop when we get sued!
Moderate equestrians need to be actively engaged. The law to destroy home occupation and allow unchecked commercial boarding will only increase this traffic. Those extremes of our riding community who sponsored and pushed through this change illegally (7 year retroactive provision to favor Oakwood Farms) want Barrington Hills to be a commercial destination. Riding Club needs revenue from the outside and some want commercial boarding for their own financial benefit with no respect for neighbors home occupation rights (gone now) or the equestrian heritage, open spaces, and residential code of our Village.
The two responses above seem to come from moderate and excellent equestrian owners – be vocal, return the Village code to the best interests of people who actually own property and pay taxes in Barrington Hills.
This remains an enormous problem for our Village!!
