From the looks of it everyone had a splendid time. Many thanks to all those who made this event happen!
‘Twas a warm and friendly day, with young families and children coming out to enjoy games, pony rides, some very unusual animals for petting and those exotic chickens! Good food and the band energized people who shared smiles, hugs, and handshakes that have set a new tone for the Village. Thank you good people who worked so hard to make this possible.
A wonderful VBH day with plenty of activities, good music and food where VBH residents (old and new) have a rare opportunity to congregate together. The Cook County Forest Preserve which houses the riding facility is a wonderful venue to hold this all inclusive community event.
This venue is such a treasure which all of us pay for through taxation that it is time serious thought be given on how all residents can benefit from use of this facility every day of the year rather than be limited to a small ungrateful segment of the community as is the case now.
For instance, how about day and overnight camping activities for cubscouts and boyscouts, family picnic and play area and construction of paved trail system connecting to Horizon Farms for walkers and bicyclists.
This would be a great way for all of us to celebrate our open space heritage and make paying that exhorbitant real estate tax bill each year a little more palatable.
Perhaps it is time a petition be circulated and inquiry be made to the Cook County Forest Preserve regarding expanding the use of VBH Ridiing Center. Appreciate VBH resident feedback to this idea on this BHO blog!
No truer words have ever been spoken!
Some interesting thoughts David – Sounds like that would be good for the whole community!
