Once again this year we have a favorable weather forecast for Saturday’s 3rd annual “The Hills Are Alive Heritage Fest.” No rain is predicted and temperatures will end up around 66 degrees when the fest opens at 1:00 PM at the Barrington Hills Park District Riding Center , located at 361 Bateman Rd.
There promises to be a lot of entertainment for everyone of all ages, including an animal show beginning at 1:30, featuring animals chosen by residents. The varieties of animals that will be participating in the show were chosen by Village residents through their votes prior to the fest.
In addition, the first 300 residents to arrive after opening will get free food. There will also be pony rides, a photo both for group or family pictures, hay rides, balloon creations, local organization displays and live entertainment by Mark Domanico.
The Heritage Fest runs from 1:00 – 5:00 PM. There is no admission fee, and all entertainment is free.
Sponsorship for this year’s Heritage Fest is generously provided by the following service providers to Barrington Hills and residents:
It’s pretty pathetic that a village run festival that relies on the generosity of it’s residents have only a few folks participating. How many residents live here? I live in a modest farm house, and I don’t live in a mega mansion, but why is everything in this village so partisan.
Shame on all of you for sitting it out and relying on others to carry the load. It’s sad that we can’t rise up the rhetoric, bad feelings and celebrate this event together. Are the new Trustees planning on getting their hands a little dirty?
Unlike Hillary Clinton, it doesn’t take a village, but it definitely should
If you talk about a sense of unity and community here’s your opportunity to deliver on that promise.
I’m so disappointed that none of the village’s many equestrian groups are participating this year. No informational tables, no games,no pony club demonstration, nada.
So, apparently, it’s not enough to boycott this great family event, but for the second year in a row, the leadership of the Riding Club has scheduled a trail ride and BBQ/bonfire at exactly the same time as the Fest. Really?
What are they planning for next year — a picket line of protesters? LOL, I wouldn’t put it past them.
When are these people going to finally grow up and realize that this is a squandered opportunity to do some positive PR for their organizations? Keep segregating yourselves. It’s been working great so far, hasn’t it?
It’s really a big letdown when you consider, that we are all part of the same village! The Hills are Alive event is a golden opportunity to showcase the best of Barrington Hills, not the strife, nasty elections and the bad press we’ve had over the past year.
How does boycotting this event help our village come together? Lots of folks talk about unity, but when it comes time to do something good and positive, they protest and boycott.
I’ve good news for them, this will be the best event ever! Why because many people believe it doing good, and not the opposite.
Lovely day!
