According to signs recently placed beside Otis Rd, road work will begin this week on a 1.8 mile section of Otis stretching from Brinker Rd to Dundee Ave in Barrington. The Cook County Department of Highways and Transportation website describes the work to be performed as “pavement preservation & rehabilitation.”
The signs caution motorists to expect delays, and construction is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, September 2nd.
Signs advising of upcoming road construction activity have also been placed along Plum Tree Rd. This Village funded patching and resurfacing project extends from Ridge Rd west to the Village limits. Residents can also expect intermittent traffic delays that area.
Brian Cecola and the new BH Board;
Thanks for taking steps to tackle so quickly some of the terrible road conditions that have been plaguing the Village during the past few years of neglect. Otis has been a mess for 3 years.
Ditto Pat on: Thank you Roads Bridges and Village Bd. We now have do-ers, not talkers.
Otis and Brinker are Cook County maintained roads. The county is the reason for the delay in fixing these roads.
Of course Brinker and Otis and others are Cook County maintained roads. But, that does not excuse Village officials from a “not my job” mentality. One of the frustrations from last campaign was the same lame excuse by parting BOT members who are the same people who were “unaware” of the Long Meadow Parkway status. That, of course, turned out to not be true either as historical records show that the previous BOT looked the other way on LMP in return for what appears as deal making.
