The Village has posted a copy of the agenda for Wednesday evening’s Village Board meeting. Some of the topics for discussion or vote include:
- [Vote] Longmeadow Parkway Phase II Review
- [Vote] Authorizing and Approving the Execution of a First Amendment to an Existing Lease Between VBH and the Barrington Area Council of Government Res. 15-
- [Vote] Appoint Attorney – Bond Dickson & Associates
- [Vote] Appoint Village Clerk – Anna Paul
A copy of the agenda can be viewed here, and the ePacket agenda, including links to most of the documentation to be covered in the meeting, can be accessed by clicking here.
Oh my goodness! The robust and informative agenda may be a sign of positive trends in the Village to communicate openly with residents. How refreshing!!
The Tide – she is a’turnin…Encouraging meeting last night!
Anyone at last night’s meeting able to shed light on an alleged Fritz Gohl comment? Heard that he made a statement that he is in support of Long Meadow Parkway because he supported Bob Abboud’s deal with Algonquin to leave Duda alone (… and for his political ambitions).
Might be interesting to understand the financial motivations for that since the LMP is a disaster for much of BH, but protects property interests of Abboud family near Duda. Hate to think anyone would trade destruction of BH for personal political or financial motivations.
Who acquired ex Duda property? Anyone who also was affiliated with campaign interests of S5A (Abboud/Gohl) and Save Open Spaces (Meroni, Selman) campaigns?
If any truth to the statement – where there is smoke is fire – and further investigation is warranted.
History has established no “corrupt bargain” took place between President John Quincy Adams and Kentucky Senator, Henry Clay but based upon the surprising revelation by Trustee Gohl at last night’s BOT meeting the same cannot be said of former VBH elected officials (circa 2006) and Village of Algonquin.
The stunning revelation by VBH BOT Gohl was a “perfected deal” between VBH elected officials and Village of Algonquin that “VBH would not oppose LMP if Village of Algonquin stayed away from zoning/connecting decisions related to the Duda Property.” You might say a “quid pro quo” of sorts . . . . where have we heard this record before?
All of this took place behind closed doors away from “you”, the public and me. Beside the U.S. Congressional campaign at the same time by one of VBH’s more notable [former] elected officials this may explain why VBH had no resident representation on the various LMP boards when critical decisions affecting the many municipalities, including VBH, were being made. We were set-up by our own elected officials to fail!
If a deal was made between VBH and Algonquin as so well articulated by elder statesman, Gohl, (14 years as BOT) the question is how can this be? There is no record to my knowledge of VBH BOT vote in approved minutes and it would be illegal to have this discussion let alone vote behind closed doors away from you and me during executive session.
Again, more questions than answers.
To put this in perspective, VBH government spent @1.5 Million Dollars of our tax money on legal fees to Burke-Warren litigating to uphold worthless conservation easements situated where former Popular Creek Theater once stood while turning a “blind a eye” to construction of a major highway which will divide VBH in half (Northside and Southside – at least 3 Traffic lights) and in time “substantially” and if not “totally” diminish our countryside way of life through increased traffic.
While Trustee Harrington fiddles (Bond-Dickson Appointment/payment), the Village burns!
