In a Barrington Hills trustee race that could be seen as a midterm assessment of Village President Martin McLaughlin, the results were decidedly in his favor.
The slate of Brian Cecola, Bryan Croll and Michelle Maison which McLaughlin supported was clearly leading the slate of incumbents Karen Selman, Patti Meroni and their running mate Mary Naumann.

Let the outcome of yesterday’s election serve as a strong warning to those who think otherwise, The overwhelming majority of tax paying property owners in our Village will not tolerate, disrespect and dishonesty from our government officials. No more deceitful campaigns. No more unsubstantiated personal attacks as our neighbors who run for Elected Village office. One Barrintin Hills means we are all one for what is best for our Village. If you are not in favor of what is best for our Village, you are against our Village. That sort of divisve approach is not good for Barringtom Hills. It is time for all of us to come together. It is time for those who made a grave miscalculation regarding what we as a Village really want, to reach out and try to mend the wounds you have caused. To continue to throw salt in those wounds, which may be an immediate reaction, will only serve to those you claim to represent a further disservice to them and our Village. Your proverbial food dish has been soiled by misguided leadership, it is not to late to clean it and start a new. There will always be those resistant to change, chose going forward, not to be one of them. All for One and One for All!

Thank you Historian! Looks like about 100 votes made the difference overall. Time for VBH Government to get the books, the budget and their legal house in order. I have high hopes that we can get back to order, decorum and civility in our very small town once again. Oh, and a reversal of the decline in property values too – that would be nice.
