A month after rejecting a proposal to outsource the village’s police dispatch operations, village trustees reversed course Monday and narrowly approved the same measure.
The decision means that the village will join QuadCom, a Carpentersville-based 911 center that dispatches for nine other nearby communities, including South Barrington and East Dundee.

Editor’s note: As a result of unnecessary delays in this decision, due primarily to questionable stalling by Trustee Harrington and SOS candidates Patty Meroni and Karen Selman, taxpayers are now on the hook for an additional $67,000 for the 911 consolidation with QuadCom.
So why not ask them to split the bill among each other?
Don’t want to be guilty of fear spreading, but …
Meroni and Selman sent out today yet another affirmation that they refuse to outsource 911 (too late). Gohl joined this group, knows better, but votes as he’s told … no longer for the best interests of the Village.
The consultant report pushed to be prepared by Harrington LOUDLY endorsed consolidation. Our current and previous Police Chiefs endorsed the move to outsource. Our current 911 system is antiquated and fragile and our public safety is in jeopardy. The police chief and consultant advised us to move forward … fast.
Yet, the SOS sisters vote politics, pushed by Abboud’s egocentric propensity to control instead of doing what is in the public’s best interest. Their campaign comments on the subject are filthy false statements, show they value politics above the public good and demonstrate complete lack of independent analytic thinking. Each comment Meroni made (like the fire department won’t respond to a barn fire because it’s only animals) was refuted by the Consultant and the police chief as blatantly incorrect.
People who know these folks and say, but they are so nice, need to wake up and realize that they are a danger to our community. Anyone capable of the abuses of office managed under their watch cannot be supported by any decent and high integrity person. You may have a SOS sign in front of your house for fear of Riding Club extremes retribution, but save our Village and vote Croll, Maisson and Cecola in the privacy of your ballot box.
Fritz Gohl used to be able to be defended as a long time BH resident that tried and cared. He can no longer be trusted to do the right thing. He should resign from office for this as well as for the joint architect decision with Abboud for the police pension fund fiasco that costs taxpayers millions of $$’s!!
More than anything, this election is about corruption and government reform. Once fixed, we can restore a positive agenda for our future!
How many miles of unrepaired road is that?
Interesting, at least Messer and Harrington broke rank and voted in favor of the 911 consolidation. Safety first. Gohl, the self described “Police Chief” voted against consolidation! (Time to retire in shame, Fritz). Meroni and Selman driveled about animal emergencies and isn’t it nice to be able to call the dispatch center and talk to old friends, totally ignoring the strong recommendations of our past Chief of Police and our new Chief of Police. Kudos to the new chief, who shut down the “proven leader” incumbents who were concerned that barn owners would not get responses to barn emergency calls. “We respond to every resident’s request for police assistant. We even resuscitated a dog!”
On this outlandish (are they trying for a few votes) total disregard for residents (911) safety alone, these two candidates should be overwhelmingly defeated. And yes, aren’t these the Trustees who were quoted as saying the residents don’t mind paying higher taxes? In fact, our “proven leader” finance liasion Selman was quoted in the Herald that the Village is in good financial position, with little debt”.
What about the long term Pension, and what about the wastage of the $$$$ reserves, and what about the wastage of designated road funds on Abboud’s legal fights? James Kelly, Abboud’s appointed special Counsel, litigated ‘Duda II” on behalf of VBH, to fight the dis-annexation. Kelly admitted in a Public BOT meeting that he told Abboud, as former Village Law Firm told Abboud, that it was a losing battle from the beginning. Abboud went ahead “to send a message”. Gohl, Meroni, and Selman never uttered a peep or complailnt.
Ms.Selman, is your head in the sand, or were you lying to the Herald as well, just like you lied about the Kalaway Cup Killing on your SOS webstie.
