The Village has posted ePacket agendas for the three meetings occurring at Village Hall tomorrow. These packets include documents to be discussed during the respective meetings.
The Heritage and Environs Committee meets at 10:00 AM, and their packet only includes a copy of their agenda as seen here.
The Roads and Bridges Committee packet contains quite a bit of information, including two financial options to address the 4.5 mile backlog in road resurfacing that was disclosed last year. One plan could eliminate that backlog over the course of 5 years, but would come with an additional estimated cost of approximately $1 million over current plans for the same period in order to accomplish.
Also included in the packet are updates on the Cuba Rd bridge replacement and road reclassification efforts. It appears the effort to remove some road reclassifications designated over many years has hit a snag with some roads since they continue into other municipalities and removing the classifications in Barrington Hills could jeopardize outside funding for their road improvement plans.
The Roads and Bridges committee meets at 3:00 PM, and the full packet of their information to be discussed can be viewed here.
Finally, the Public Safety Committee meets at 7:00 PM, and their packet includes minutes from their December meeting. Click here to view their meeting packet.
I thought the mileage targets for repair and paving identified in G-H (Strahan’s) letter was taken care of in the prior 10 year road/repair project which expired on December 31, 2014. This was sold to VBH taxpayers by prior Village President, Save 5-Acres n/k/a SOS majority board and G-H. What happened? VBH was suppose to set the “gold standard” for condition of its roads in 2015 and be the envy of surrounding communities.
Now SOS BOT member Meroni has asked and obtained a record 47% (1.3 Million to 1.9 Million) increase in authorized expenditure for roads for year 2015. An outrage, yes; unexpected, no because of SOS domonated BOT.
SOS BOT member Harrington said BOT should look only to the future and not the past. Does Harrington know something the rest of us do not? Before any further VBH taxppayer funds are spent on roads, residents and BOT should demand Meroni (roads and bridges) and SOS BOT member Selman (Finance) produce a detailed report accounting for each year of the failed 10 year road program which expired on 12-31-14.
Until BOT and public views the results of this failed project through the prism of production/cost analysis, what is the purpose of embarking on a new road maintenance program. Is this so SOS dominated BOT can repeat the same mistakes more than once with same “ole” Meroni at the helm? Perhaps SOS dominated BOT is doing this as part of some sadistic ritual upon VBH taxpayers who they believe have not been abused by SOS BOT enough?
For a community which former President Abboud often referred to as at “top of the economic foodchain” why do VBH voters continue to elect indviduals to BOT where the “obvious most often times eludes them.”
BOT, stop allowing Meroni to [S]pend [O]ur [S]avings on roads without first accounting to taxpayers for the prior 10 year road program debacle. Let’s not make the same costly mistake twice. .
