Residents are reminded there will be a Longmeadow Parkway update meeting tonight at Village Hall beginning at 7:00 PM. A copy of the presentation to be covered at the meeting can be downloaded here.

If you look at the minutes of the meetings for the LMP you find who was in attendance at these LMP meetings and who was not. At many of these meetings, Mayors from West Dundee, East Dundee, Algonquin and Carpentersville were present; but never VBH [former] President Robt. Abboud. In fact, from what I can tell, no VBH BOT or resident is identified as having attended any of these LMP meetings. Was this deliberate or simple neglect?
This is astonishing given the impact LMP will have on many of our residents and VBH as a whole. I think Trustee Meroni owes an explanation tonight why VBH was noticeably absent not only from LMP meetings but from the LMP Advisory Board as well.
Unfortunately, I have an application for special use I need to present before the Kane County Zoning Board of Appeals tonight and will be unable to attend Trustee Meroni’s meeting tonight. You can bet if I could attend I would be asking this question.
If someone does ask this question, I would be interested in hearing what Trustee Meroni has to say in response. Please e-mail me Trustee Meroni’s response at david@stieperlaw.com.
I wonder if the Abboud/Rosene imposed label “Equestrian” will save the value of all the properties along Algonquin Road from Rt. 25 to Rt. 59, what with an expressway soon to front these properties? The answer is obvious, just more millions of dollars lost by Village residents as a result of Abboud’s inept leadership – with nary a peep from Meroni, Selman, Messer and Gohl!
I eagerly await the election date.
This town will throw out the corrupt and inept members of the bot.
The old board will put up their friends and cohorts and relitaves to try to keep the corrupt regime intact! Beware you, have been warned.
It’s quite a stranglehold this BOT has on our village governance. Our President’s appointments are consistently shot down, and absolutely nothing substantive is being accomplished. It’a a power grab and more! They spend hours grandstanding technicalities, meetings drag on for hours every month. They have yet to be held accountable regarding their campaign related stunts. Abound certainly has made sure that although he no longer has the seat of power. His influence and vision will be perpetuated for years to come on this BOT. The triad of trustees will make sure that village business and resident’s interests will be held hostage for years to come. The solution? To vote these folks out at the ballot box, sadly many trusting residents were misled by the previous campaign, and fell victim to a slick and clever propaganda machine. Now the results are plain to see. The same level of pressure needs to be applied to the ZBA whose unregulated self-serving members are busy drafting proposals that will create a lawless monopoly of special interest businesses in our quiet pastoral community.
Duda II will impact the west portion of the village, and the Longmeadow parkway project will further devastate an area whose property values have already. Chairwoman Meroni has a lot of explaining to do. If residents are upset about the condition of H.Bend road, they should ask Trustee Selman’s best friend former Abboud loyalist Elaine Ramesh why the roads look so deplorable. Yes, indeed, I can’t wait for the election, and some worthy candidates to once and for all advocate for all residents not the ones wearing the cowboy boots!
Does anyone know how residents can demand an independent review of where the money went? How can roads budgets have been diverted to legal expenses and our total expenditures increase $4 million annually while our cash reserves decline from $4 m to $1 m? Corruption will continue until anyone who acted or complied with offenses is escorted out of Village Hall in handcuffs.
Longmeadow Parkway has a $97 million budget and Barrington Hills sat idly by under the Abboud administration because we were not “invited” (so says Meroni) to participate. The double talk is beyond comprehension.
This is a great question, how money be funneled from one department to another. Now that president McLaughlin has asked for he public to sit in on these normally closed sessions, our residents can at least have some degree of oversight. To date we’ve had absolutely none. The double talk and double speak surely must end. It’s up to our residents to see that it happens come april.
Brad – you’re quite right when you suggest to vote “them” out; however, the abysmal turnout in Village elections has allowed this to happen. If every “commenter” will guarantee their, and their neighbors’ votes on election day, the Board will change, i.e., of course, you can recruit good people willing to put up with the nasties in this Village. I think that, with some assurance, of your commitment, these candidates will surface. Meanwhile, we need to enlighten the good people who organized against the bike lanes, and other groups like them, that they are being used by the svengali, and teller of lies, to open the way for another run for Pres. There’s much to be done before the spring election; you have only to start the ball rolling and I think the support will be there. Trustee Konicek and Pres McLaughlin, have persevered to be strong, smart, and convincing, in spite of attacks by fellow Board Members. They’ve set the standard that should be expected of Village Trustees, ZBA, and other commissions.
I would like to thank those residents who informed me of Trustee Meroni’s attempt at “revisionist history” last night involving the LMP by attempting to exonerate herself and her svengali. From what I am told, Meroni tried to place the blame squarely on former VBH Pres. Kempe explaining why VBH was a “no show” at LMP meetings and why VBH did not have a seat on the LMP Advisory Board.
Unfortunately for Trustee Meroni facts are a stubborn thing which tell a completely different story when it comes to the LMP saga. For instance, where was VBH during those many monthly/quarterly LMP meetings occuring after Mr. Kempe was no longer VBH President? What about the VBH BOT resolution during Abboud’s tenure requesting:
“the County of Kane consider a toll bridge as a funding option for proposed LMP over the Fox River”
My question to Meroni (Gohl, Messer and Selmon), if VBH BOT opposed the LMP intersecting through VBH why would VBH BOT be passing resolutions with 9 other municipalities (Algonquin, Carpentersville. East Dundee, Gilberts, Hampshire, Huntley, Lake in the Hills, Sleepy Hollow and West Dundee) recommending alternative LMP funding arrangements?
If VBH was not invited to sit on the LMP Advisory Board as Meroni opined, why would VBH BOT be passing resolutions supporting this highway project from a distance rather than taking necessary action ensuring VBH had a seat at the table?
Did a run for Congress have anything to do with this debacle? Perhaps a deal involving the Duda Property?
it sounds to me last night (at least on these points) was nothing more than the same “ole” Baloney!
It is despicable that Meroni would attempt to transfer her neglience and lack of professionalism (or worse) onto Jim Kempe our deceased president. Without fear of contradiction I choose to call her out for what she is, another Abboud stooge and apologist.
