Roads & Bridges chair, Patty Meroni, will be hosting a meeting next Wednesday evening, October 8, to update residents on Kane County’s latest plans for the Longmeadow Parkway project, due to begin as early as next year. The meeting will take place at Village Hall beginning at 7:00 PM.
According to the posting on the Village website, Kane County has submitted “greater detail than previously provided concept plans regarding the planned roadway improvements and how they would impact Autumn Trail, IL Rte. 62, and adjacent properties.”
For planning purposes, Trustee Meroni has requested residents RSVP for the meeting by tomorrow, October 3, by emailing the Village Clerk at clerk@barringtonhills-il.gov or by phone at 847-551-3000. Any specific questions are also requested in advance of the meeting by submitting them to the Village Clerk.
We recommend residents who regularly use Algonquin Rd/ Rte. 62 should attend. For more information, click here.
I cannot make the meeting on the 8th but someone should ask Trustee Meroni why VBH was not represented on the LMP Advisory Board. I have raised this issue in the past without the courtesy of a response.
When I recently ran for McHenry County Board of Trustees, a woman informed me she attended many LMP meetings and that the original design for LMP did not include VBH. It was only when members on the Advisory Board from Carpentersville objected to the LMP traversing through Carpentersville to route 59 or 72 was the desgin changed to include VBH. Whether this is true or not I do not know, but it begs the question of where was VBH representation and voice when it could have made a difference?
With a voice on the LMP Advisory Board, VBH may have been able to avoid this entire ordeal. The more senior members of VBH BOT need to provide residents with answers to above questions. If Trustee Meroni chooses to be honest, you will not like the answer.
An obvious campaign stunt; simply too little too late Trustee Meroni.

Makes a lot of sense David! I am flabbergasted at the LMP meetings I have attended when I asked similar questions…Why did VBH not object to the termination on rt 62 and push to have the terminus be at rt 25? No answers from Abboud or Meroni. Just a shrug of the shoulders.
Can anyone explain to me why residents would need to RSVP for a public meeting, or to send questions in advance?
Another typical move by the Queen of Communications, Ms. Meroni!
This town is BEYOND corrupt!
JT, corruption is the biggest obstacle facing our Village. Since 2005, government took a turn for the worse and special interests won out. We need to look deep at Longmeadow Parkway and understand how Patti Meroni can state she was unaware of the project’s plan. In 2007, our Village minutes show knowledge of the project. Our Village chose not to include anyone in the planning. Instead of terminating on Higgins and 25, our town will now have a divide and eventual 4 lane highway on Algonquin. Why is she still being so passive, fight for a change! Or, has that deal already been done in backrooms and she does not want to expose her old boss’ political maneuvering. We cannot allow Meroni continue to back pedal.
Joe Messer, Judy Freeman, Kurt Anderson, Karen (John) Rosene and others just manipulated a recommendation to allow 15 horses on a 5 acre property in order to promote commercial boarding in our Village. That is insanity, but it serves the extreme fringe, many of whom don’t own property in BH.
The Village Comprehensive Pan started to change in 2005 to emphasize Equestrian to support a loud few. Shame on them for allowing that to happen, make it right! Abboud continued the politics when he broke the Open Meetings Act law with ZBA nominations to protect Oakwood and promote commercial interests. Messer, Harrington and the rest of the Save my $5k Oakwood crowd publicly stated to “ignore” the Attorney General’s opinion. Of course, Burke Warren agreed with Messer and advised that the Village did not have to comply with the Illinois Attorney General’s recommendation. No wonder Messer and Harrington want a law firm of their choosing.
Corruption may be too mild a word.
How does Maroni and Messer and the gang sleep at night knowing what they have done to the people of Barrington Hills?
I believe in carma and payback is going to be a bitch for these people.
Karma, Karma, Karma Chameleons….
