October 7 Special Village Board meeting recordings released
October 14, 2013 by Barrington Hills Observer
Since Ms. Meroni mentioned my name on the record “Am I going to get another picture as a chicken, Mr. O’Donnell”, as I raised my camera phone to record her comments of her 25 years of experience in planning events, I need to make the record clear.
1. I can not take credit for the phptoshopped piccture of Trustee Meroni which appeared recently on BHO. Any one who knows me will attest that I don’t the technical skills to do that.
2. I did want to capture those rermarks, as they suggest that the Village Manager, a Village employee (the young lady who explained he planning of the Hills are Alive event, and the Village president are unable to do so, and they should have come to her for help..
3. My impression of the “special ” and previous BOT meeting is that there is a WE V THEY behavior, as I detailed in a previous post following the last regular BOT meeting, the one that prompted someone other than I to depict Ms. Meroni as parrt of the “hens” nitpicking the event plan.
4. Any elected public official should expect to be photogrphed, recorded, and held accountable for their actions at the meetings. Video is an excellent media for promulgation.
There was so much political backspin coming from Gohl, Meroni and Selman in the recordings I’m surprised they didn’t fall down from dizziness when they got up from their chairs after the meeting! It seemed pretty clear they wanted to put the kibosh on the festival during the September BOT meeting.
Selman’s absurd suggestion that a “possible” one or two thousand dollar shortfall in outside funding for the fest might negatively impact the roads and bridges budget takes the cake. Maybe someone should tell her that the R&B budget is $1.3 million for this year since she obviously doesn’t know that even though she oversees and reports village finances. And you have to wonder why she chose that budget over all others to bring up.
There’s too much unproductive and petty politicking going on in these meetings and it just gets us nowhere fast when there are so many other priorities to tend to.
Ms. Meroni and Selman, with a little help from Fritz, made a convincing argument that they are undoubtedly the most hypocritical, miserable, phonies to sit on this Board. For them to posture and complain about any waste of taxpayers’ money is a joke of mammoth proportion. Where were you three stooges when that miserable little tyrant, your mentor, squandered hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars to retain his lawyer/lap dog to do his bidding in self serving matters; e.g. asking Mr.K to “investigate” any perceived wrongdoing with the ZBA by Mr. A;s intervention. Was this overpaid (with taxpayers’ $$) hired hand going to offer any negative opinion about his meal ticket, the little general? how many taxpayer dollars were spent withholding FOIA requests, How many other legal “assignments” were not really Village business? Well, , you three should consider early retirement and not wait until the next election for a purge of petty politicking. Get a life, you three, before you embarass yourselves, and the Village, any further. We now have a Village Pres. who conducts himself with restraint, tolerance and dignity. Hallelujah!
