Though the official primary elections will take place March 20, 2012, registered voters can take advantage of early voting beginning this Monday, February 27, 2012. Since some district representation boundaries have shifted since the last elections, The Observer has assembled “go-to” links for residents so that they may view their current voting districts, polling places and sample ballots.

In addition to ballot choices for candidates, Barrington Hills voters will be asked to answer a referendum question posed by our Village government. This question as it appears on the ballot reads as follows:
“Shall the Village of Barrington Hills have the authority to arrange for the supply of electricity for its residential and small commercial retail customers who have not opted out of such program?”
The Village has provided a link to information regarding this question (see Aggregation), and The Observer will publish the Village-wide results of this referendum question once the final votes are tallied.

Latest waste of money, a glossy postcard in today’s mail which, of course, has to mention BACOG well water testing. It’s bad enough giving them free rent, do we have to do their “advertisiing”- Forget the water testing; few people showed interest last time around. And, March 20th is a General Primary Election; why does the Village insist on calling it Election Referendum, as though the “aggregation” issue is more important than who’s going to be running this country for the next 4 years? I’m looking at the front of the postcard again and the “Events to Remember” are listed as “Well Water Testing March 5th, Aggregation Referendum March 20th; and Vehicle Sticker Available April 1st”‘ as though these were real attention grabbers. In what orbit do the “twits” revolve?

You’re exactly correct. Here’s another useless mailing at taxpayer expense. Shouldn’t that sort of information be in the newsletter that is mailed out to us anyway?
Speaking of which, isn’t the newsletter coming out soon? We need our periodic fix of the five page News from the President. It’s always sooo informative and entertaining. It’s right up there with the tally of garbage bags collected by Israel’s trash committee.
Saved by the bell (or the blog); you can go online to McHenry County Blog and get a detailed explanation of the electrical Aggregation referendum that will appear on our ballots on March 20th. By simply clicking on this site, you can save yourself a trip to the March 14th Open House FAQ. at the Village Hall. You could probably ask additional questions via the Blog too..
