South Barrington officials Thursday elected to remain a member of the Barrington Area Council of Governments after being serenaded with significant budget cuts agreed to by the other eight members.
“I think we’ve got a good compromise,” South Barrington Village President Frank Munao said. “I see this whole next year as a trial.”
But in promising the use of Barrington Hills village hall to help the council eliminate its current rent and utility costs, Barrington Hills Village President Robert Abboud drew the ire of at least one of his own trustees.

I certainly hope the next BOT meeting of Barrington Hills is overwhelmed with residents who will finally hold the trustees accountable. More importantly Abboud had no authority to make such an offer and let’s all get this straight – Abboud only votes in the case of a tie. That according to our form of government – home rule does not equal abboud rules. Perhaps flooding the village phone lines asking how our local government is set up as well as the presidents roll should be the agenda of all residents today! Let’s see if the web of deceipt continues……….
re; daily herald comment by Abboud: ‘charging rent would be like charging ourselves’.
Mr. Abboud has proven one again how irrational he is. Let’s see which trustees are equally so.
Agreed, Nick and Nora; Abboud’s “web of deceit” continues as he portrays billing BACOG, as billing ourselves (Barrington Hills) This is similar to his manipulation and misapplication of figures in his summation of the real estate property tax issue. The perception of any favoritism will further BACOG’s demise. If BACOG supported the 5-acre zoning, it should be on its merits, not because of any cozy relationship between Village officials and the former BH Plan Commission Chair/BACOG Director, Agnoletti, who has since moved from the Village, but, obviously, has maintained close ties. The Nick and Noras see through the rhetoric. thank you.
