A plane flying out of Barrington was intercepted by two F-16 fighter jets early Wednesday night after the plane entered restricted airspace, which was temporarily put in place for President Obama’s visit to Chicago.

Our family was having dinner on our porch when we were practically dislodged from our seats when we heard the jets fly right over our house in the Barrington Highland neighborhood. We assumed that it was Air Force One being escorted out of O’hare. What a surprise to find out this morning that it was a little old lady flying a kit plane out of Barrington. I’ll bet she almost had a heart attack when the two F-16’s pulled up beside her! She is probably fortunate to still be alive and to not have been shot right out of the sky. I wonder if she will ever fly again, She probably is traumatized by the shock of seeing those two jets pull up beside her tiny airplane. Or did she do it on purpose?
